Which room is the ceiling sweep fan for?

Bedroom
All Fantasia Fans are guaranteed to be silent, making them a popular choice for bedrooms. You may want to consider positioning the fan above the bed, or towards that end of the room, although a centrally positioned fan will still generate a cooling breeze.

Conservatory
As conservatories tend to get hotter than the average room we recommend that you "up-size" to a larger fan such as a 42" 52" or 54" model. Most conservatory installations will require a Drop Rod to lower the fan to a suitable level of operation and ensure that the slope of the ceiling does not obstruct the blades. Flush mounted fans require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod — see our Product Specifications section for more information.

Lounge
Fantasia Fans are available in a wide variety of finishes to match most décor and in varying spans to suit any size lounge. Wall Lights are also available to complement many of our ceiling fan light kits. Select a room dimension from the box below to find out which size fan would suit your lounge.

Kitchen
The kitchen can often be the hottest room in the house and a fan can serve as a welcome relief! Whether you have up-to-the-minute Stainless Steel or traditional Polished Brass fittings, there is a Fantasia Fan to suit your requirements.

Commonly Asked Questions :

bullet pointQuestion. Is there any room for which a fan is not suitable?
bullet pointAnswer. The Bathroom is the only domestic room where we do not recommend a fan to be fitted.

bullet pointQuestion. Can fans be installed on a sloping ceiling?
bullet pointAnswer. Fans can be installed up to an angle of 40 degrees. A minimum of 6" must be allowed between the tip of the blade and the slope of the ceiling, or any other obstruction.

bullet pointQuestion. How do I work out the length of drop rod required when fitting the fan into a conservatory or high ceiling?
bullet pointAnswer. The Drop Rod length is determined by the ceiling height. The optimum height from the floor to the blade is between 7ft 6" and 9ft and flush mounted fans will require a Conversion Kit to fit a drop rod. See our Choosing a Fan page for more information on selecting the correct drop rod.

bullet pointQuestion. What is the minimum mounting height for a fan?
bullet pointAnswer. The British Standards Institute recommends that the blades should be no less than 7ft 6" from the floor.

bullet pointQuestion. How much does a fan cost to run?
bullet pointAnswer. Fantasia fans run off the standard lighting circuit (5 amp) and are very economical to run, costing approximately 5p for 8 hours at high speed – less than a 100w light bulb.

bullet pointQuestion. Can fans be operated from a wall control?
bullet pointAnswer. Fantasia fans can be operated by either a single Wall Control or, if the fan has a light, a double Wall Control/Dimmer. A standard dimmer switch cannot be used to adjust fan speeds.

bullet pointQuestion. How is the speed of the fan controlled?
bullet pointAnswer. Most Fantasia fans have an integral pull switch to operate the 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds, with the exception of the Odyssey, Viper and eMotion fans which come complete with Remote Control. In the reverse position the fan re-circulates warm air trapped at ceiling level – see our Fan in Motion section for more information.

bullet pointQuestion. Does the fan require any maintenance or cleaning?
bullet pointAnswer. All Fantasia fans have permanently sealed bearings, double lacquered surfaces and do not require maintenance. An occasional light dusting with a soft cloth is all that is required. All fixings should be checked annually and any that have worked loose should be tightened.

bullet pointQuestion. Can I buy a light kit at a later date?
bullet pointAnswer. All Fantasia fans are light adaptable and a light can be fitted at any time. Wiring connection to the supply must be installed to our instructions – see our Wiring Diagrams section for more information. A wide selection of light styles and finishes are available to complement almost any decor. See our Light Kits section for more information.

bullet pointQuestion. Are fans noisy and do they wobble?
bullet pointAnswer. Some competitors' fans are noisy and wobble because they are made from lower quality materials. Fantasia fans run quietly and, even when fitted with a Drop Rod, are very stable.

bullet pointQuestion. What size fan do I need?
bullet pointAnswer. For a room with a standard 8ft ceiling, recommended sizes are as follows: 36" fan for a room upto 12ft x 12ft 42" fan for a room upto 12ft x 14ft 52" fan for a room upto 15ft x 15ft Two fans will usually be required for a room larger than 15ft x 15ft For conservatories or south facing rooms we recommend that you increase the fan size relative to the room size to compensate for the higher temperatures reached in these areas.

bullet pointQuestion. Do ceiling fans require any special wiring and are they difficult to fit?
bullet pointAnswer. A fan with or without lights can be wired into an existing lighting circuit and is a simple DIY job. If you are in any doubt then consult a qualified electrician. See our Wiring Diagrams page for more information.

bullet pointQuestion. What are the fan blades made of?
bullet pointAnswer. The Enigma fan blades are acrylic. The other fan blades are made from fibreboards, carefully selected for their low weight, strength and stability. The blades are then coated with the appropriate finish. None of our fans have metal blades as this is considered dangerous for domestic use.
